A holiday at home

On the 9th April we were invited by Lichfield SVP to attend the activity ‘Holiday at Home’ where we ‘visit’ somewhere nice. This time the theme was Scotland and the Highlands.

We arrived at the Hall for 10.00am and were welcomed by the volunteers and people organising the event, they offered us tea and we looked through the programme of the activities we were going to be a part of.

During the morning there was aerobics, nail manicure, card making and flower arranging for anyone to partake.

We all enjoyed the Fish and Chips lunch with a variety of cold drinks donated by the local Fish and Chips shop; and we also had Haggis which is very typical of Scotland and to complete we all enjoyed a cornetto donated from Tesco.

During the afternoon we played Bingo and managed to get a full house winning a £10.00 voucher for the Co-op!

At tea time we were offered a delicious variety of cakes with a choice of tea, coffee and cold drinks.

And we then had the pleasure of watching Dancers from the Royal Society of Scottish Dancers and the as always, very impressive traditional Scottish Piper. Two of the Ladies from the Lichfield Parish sang a good repertoire of Scottish songs that everyone joined in with and we really enjoyed this.

As we prepared to come home we were presented with a little bag full of goodies with info’ on the places we “visited” during the day, to include treats of short bread biscuits, chocolates, cards, a pen and other few bits and bobs.

Everybody had worked very hard so we could have a good day and we really did, we are so grateful to them all for their generosity and kindness. It just goes to show that there are a lot of people that they go that extra mile to help others and make them feel loved and valued.
