Activities & Concerts

Last month Christ the King care home had a very busy time. Sisters Hospitallers centre in Shenstone had a very eventful schedule. Our residents have enjoyed all the usual activities including the Friday weekly quiz, singalongs to various artists and ‘Play Your Cards Right’.

Armchair exercise is a particular favourite on Friday afternoon; our residents really enjoy this chair movement to music. Toby and Friends of Footherley Hall continue with Thursday’s bingo and poem sessions. We are also very grateful to our volunteer Stella for the classical music hour, which is enjoyed by all.

We celebrated Bonfire Night on 5th November by having indoor sparklers – would you believe! And then everyone went on to enjoy a Bonfire Night Supper of hotdogs and burgers. How super is that? It was, of course, enjoyed immensely by everyone!

We also enjoyed a visit from the Lichfield Dance Academy who came to perform for us.  This was amazing with the girls of varying ages all beautifully dressed to suit the tune they were dancing to, featuring two little girls who were so sweet and danced just perfectly.  It was a really lovely morning with huge thanks to Sue Mead and the girls for this lovely show.

Second Chance Cancer Choir

To our delight, Second Chance Cancer Choir came back to entertain us, this time with their Christmas concert and it did not disappoint! The Choir sang a lovely array of Christmas tunes from good old ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘O Holy Night’ to ‘I wish it could be Christmas every day’ and ‘Winter Wonderland’ and it was super! There were much feet foot-tapping, some dancing and a lot of smiling faces. With huge thanks to the Second Chance Cancer Choir for yet another superb performance.

This smashing group of ladies have all been touched in some way by cancer and got together to form the choir, visiting places and homes like ours performing purely for donations to raise money for cancer charities. So it gave us great pleasure to present them with a cheque for £200 from everyone here at Footherley and we do hope they will be back again very soon.
