On the 15th October we celebrated the Feast Day of St. Teresa of Avila –the patron saint of St. Teresa’s home.
The celebration began early in the morning with a sherry party. The residents gathered in the beautifully decorated lounge for a glass of sherry and some treats. It was a very nice time with residents chatting and listening to hymn songs and prayers of St. Teresa of Avila.
The Mass was celebrated at 11.15am and was attended by residents, sisters and staff. During the service, Sister Begoña and Fr. Alan from the Service Community gave wonderful and inspirational speeches about St. Teresa, and Mrs. Brooke read “Bidding Prayers”. Offertory was carried to the altar by a resident, a sister and a volunteer.
Afterwards, a splendid lunch was served to residents, volunteers and Fr. Alan.
In the afternoon, Mrs. Brooke read some interesting notes about the life of St. Teresa to other residents, who were listening attentively. The reading was followed by a beautiful and delicious festive cake prepared by the chef and the staff in the kitchen.
At the end of the day residents stated it was a lovely and very enjoyable day, they were happy to attend and learn more about St. Teresa.
