It’s Christmas time

Christmas is around the corner and at Sisters Hospitallers centres we are working hard to be ready for this time of the year. We all celebrate it in different ways, but we all love to decorate our homes and go out to enjoy the magic of these days. Before wishing you Merry Christmas we would like to show how we are getting ready for it. Let’s the magic begins!

Addlestone

Christmas Fayre

St Augustine’s November Christmas Fayre raised over £1300! Residents were in charge of decorations and ensuring everything was ready for receiving the visitors. They made beautiful tags and ribbons to decorate their jars and potpourri.

Everyone loved special guest, Teddy the pony whose first stop was the lounge where he visited the residents and then took the lift to pay a visit to those in Section B. Residents, co-workers, sisters and visitors were very excited and didn’t want to miss the chance to cuddle Teddy who was a huge hit and hopefully will visit again. The funds will be used to take the residents on outings, to bring in entertainers and provide extra equipment.

Garden Centre

Most of our residents love to go out for a walk, but at this time of the year, it can be even more special. The Friends of St Augustine organized an outing to the Garden Centre, where we all had a lovely time and couldn’t resist taking photos of the Christmas decorations.

Some didn’t want to miss the opportunity to buy Christmas gifts for their loved ones. After wandering around the shop, we enjoyed a tasty meal. After all, we needed to restore our energy levels!

Shenstone

Local Garden Centre Outings

This month we were lucky to have seen two visits to our local garden centre. Our residents enjoyed getting into the Christmas spirit early at ’ Dobbies’ Garden Centre in Shenstone, which was all decked up for the festive season.

Sister Margaret, residents and carers, as well as Sue, our Activities Coordinator enjoyed wandering around the many Christmas trees and Father Christmases that were brightly lit and the array of Christmas gifts was super – it just made you want to spend!

Afterwards, our residents enjoyed the customary coffee and cakes in the restaurant.

Monrovia
