Living in Our Care Homes

We are constantly trying to improve our elderly’s quality of life at our care homes in the UK. You can see a glimpse of their daily life and special moments.

St Augustine’s Home

August was a very special month for our hospitaller family here as we celebrated the Feast Day of St Augustine of Hippo. We have been doing lots of arts and crafts and making cards to sell in order to raise money for the Sisters Hospitallers project in Liberia. We raised over £900 last month from donations, the selling at the reception and our New Coffee Club, which we enjoy on the last Sunday of the month after mass. We have also played entertaining games and are looking forward to trying our homegrown tomatoes!

St Teresa’s Home

We have organised several more outings to Kensington Gardens and the Serpentine during August and we also visited the gorgeous Sunken Garden in the maze in front of the palace which was the favourite garden of Princess Diana. We had the pleasure to listen to the Swedish Chamber Orchestra with conductor Thomas Dausgaard at the Royal Albert Hall. In the home, we enjoyed our exercises, arts and crafts, singing and dancing sessions, birthdays and we even dressed up as famous singers!

Christ the King Care Home

Our residents enjoyed a smashing boat trip and had the chance to admire the lovely views of the countryside thanks to an amazing weather. We had musical entertainment over the month which always makes us sing and swing. We celebrated a very special 100th birthday and welcomed new residents and staff. Jessica – who used to work with us and is now a qualified nurse – and her friend Sarah visited the home and talked to us about their volunteering experience at our St Francis Xavier Hospital in Ghana. And of course, our residents took part in several activities!
