The festive season was even more busy and fun than usual, for residents at Footherley Hall in Staffordshire.
At the Residents’, Sisters & Staff Christmas Party on December 16th, entertainment was courtesy of professional singer Paulo Pinto, who got everyone perfectly in a party mood. A delicious buffet was served and gifts were distributed to thank staff. The Friends of Footherley threw another party (!) on December 21st, with sherry and mince pies, ‘Santa and the Elves’ giving out gifts for everyone and the annual Friends Christmas Raffle. Lucky winners received hampers bursting with goodies.
Residents enjoyed outings to Shenstone Methodist Church for the Christmas Tree Show and to the pantomime ‘Aladdin,’ as well as an in-house Carol Service with Rev John Aston and Carol-singing from the local Scouts group.
One more party was held on New Year’s Eve – an all-out end of year celebration, with drinks and nibbles as well as entertainment from Alison Moss with ‘Name that Tune.’
The Hall also played host to some honoured guests. Boxing Day brought a visit from Archbishop Bernard Longley, who said Mass in Footherley Chapel and then greeted everyone in attendance afterwards. On Saturday 16th January, Auxiliary Bishop Robert Byrne came by to spend time with our residents, visitors and staff, before going on to say a 5pm Mass.
All in all, it was truly an action-packed Christmas season. We’re very grateful to everyone who helped make it so special.
