The children, staff and some parents from St Benito Menni Rehabilitation Centre went on a trip to Lake Bosumtwi, one of the tourist attractions in Ghana, to mark the Christmas festivities. We first visited the Marian Grotto of Obuasi Diocese. There, we were welcomed by the priest in charge and he prayed with us thanking the Lord for seeing as getting this far through the year.
From there, we moved to the Lake Bosumtwi, the only natural lake in Ashanti and Ghana which is situated within an ancient impact crater that is about 6.5 miles in diameter. Bosumtwi is considered by the Ashanti as a sacred lake. According to traditional belief, the souls of the dead come here to bid farewell to the god Asase Ya. It is a popular resort area where people can swim, fish and take boat trips, which we did and the children very much enjoyed. And not only the children had fun, so did the grown ups!
