Katie Lee has been Deputy Manager at St Augustine’s Home since last September. She has reached NVQ Level 5, starting in the care sector as a part-time domiciliary care assistant because she was looking for a rewarding job. “I started work as a domiciliary care assistant many years ago when my children were small. I wanted a part-time job that not only fitted around my family commitments but was also rewarding.”

Happy Feast

Sisters Hospitallers care home in Addlestone couldn’t say goodbye to the summer without a party. For the occasion, they had a barbecue. Gathering together was just lovely, mostly to see our residents having fun. The best part was to have Daniel Brewerton with us again. Due to COVID-19, it’s not easy to provide our residents with entertainers. The barbeque was arranged to celebrate our home day, which coincided with St Augustine’s Feast.

Hangman

Sisters Hospitallers care home in Addlestone found the perfect activity for rainy days, ‘Hangman’. Sue was the person on the board and she had to think of a proverb. It was great fun seeing our residents suggesting random letters to find the gaps!

Tournament

St Augustine´s residents like to challenge themselves. Although playing games is fun, sometimes they compete and see who is the best. This month we introduced several tournaments: ring toss, snakes and ladders, carpet bowls, and darts. Everybody did their best but unfortunately, there can only be one winner!

The day dedicated to love has arrived and Sisters Hospitallers want to celebrate it. Our residents have made such lovely decorations. Naturally, the colour chosen was red and lots of hearts are on display. We also made some diamond strings because, as the well-known song says, “Diamonds Are Forever”!
