Sr Georgina has been a Sister Hospitaller since 1988. She graduated in nursing from Ghana University of Nurses, and she also studied religious sciences in Rome. She is in charge of St Francis Xavier Hospital in Ghana, and she worried about the well-being of the staff under her leadership; hoping, praying and putting in measures to avoid any them contracting this disease.

“Zero Maternal Mortality Project”

Sisters Hospitallers is building a new maternity Unit in Ghana, budgeted at £882,000 because the previous facility was quite small and inadequate. It is an ambitious mission because it is the only hospital structure that exists in the whole area. In recent years the hospital has been adapting to the growing needs of society, as well as to the requirements of Ghana’s health authorities.

Renewal of Vows in Foso Community

Sister Monica made her renewal of vows to Sister Joana Agbotse - delegate of the Provincial Superior. In a simple and profound act, Monica freely vowed to God’s poverty, chastity, and obedience for one year. The event took place in Ghana, experiencing our hospitaller mission and practising hospitality.

Our ENT Volunteer Team are back to St. Francis

A team of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Specialists went to Ghana to treat and provide specialist care at St. Francis Xavier Hospital. All the treatments took place in St Francis Xavier Hospital and all the patients who were seen during the ear, nose and throat specialist visit were from Assin Foso and surroundings.

XXV World Day of the Sick

On 11 February, the Church celebrated the World Day of the Sick, instituted by Saint John Paul II in 1992 and first celebrated at Lourdes on 11 February 1993. This year’s theme was “Amazement at what God has accomplished: ‘The Almighty has don great things for me…’” (Lk 1:49).
